| Briquetting Press by Gross: GP Genius 2/50 |

The Gross range of shredding and briquetting machines are manufactured in Germany to very exacting standards to ensure many years of trouble free operation.
With ever increasing waste disposal costs and spiralling taxes for landfill the briquetting process offers real cost benefits. Waste is reduced in volume by up to 90% which can drastically reduce the number of skips required. The briquettes can be hand fed into a wood burner to heat the factory or, sold to provide an additional income stream.
 |
Dependant on the material being compressed a briquette will produce up to eight times the heat of a comparable log and one ton of briquettes is equivalent in calorific value to approximately 400 litres of fuel oil.
The shredded waste is fed into a hopper either manually or via an auger from a shredder. An agitator feeds the material into the worm conveyor for transport into the compression station. A level sensor monitors the amount of material in the hopper and the unit will automatically switch off when the level drops. |
The material is first pushed into the compression chamber by a vertical ram and then compacted by the horizontal cylinder. Compression tongs complete the process and release the completed briquette.
The process is controlled by a PLC unit with separate adjustment for the hydraulic pressures.
The briquettes are ejected from the machine close to floor level and various options are available to distribute the finished product. The unit can be raised by either 500 or 1000mm to allow discharge into a container or, the outlet can be connected to smooth wall piping to discharge at a convenient location up to 20 metres away.We have a demonstration unit in our Coventry showroom and recommend that tests are carried out with your typical waste mix to establish the suitability your materials for briquetting. |
