Whilst a highly technical process in general terms, certain aspects of the foil pressing process still rely on hand tools to complete the manufacturing cycle. Notably final trimming and panel cleaning.
BS1 - Knife trimming tool
Whilst all manner of methods are employed, from plastic window scrapers to discarded planer knives the common element to achieving a good finish is the cutting angle of the blade. |

BS1 continued...
The Rapha trimming tools is based on an ergonomically shaped handle which can be easily rotated in the hand to trim all four sides of a panel without the tendency to cut away from the edge which can induce delamination on panels which are still warm as they leave the press.
The blade itself is a standard trimming knife blade which is quickly and cheaply changed. What makes the difference is the precise cutting angle which gives a perfectly flush trim to the panel without the risk of digging in and potentially scrapping the component.
RHG - B uffing tool
All door manufacturers suffer with excess adhesive on the back of the panel as a result of the spraying process. Many solutions have been tried involving various chemicals and solvents most of which leave a residue and smears on the back of the panel. Some of which can potentially attack the glue line. This small buffing tool will remove the residue of adhesive on the back of the panel without the use of chemicals and leave a clean unmarked finish. The pads are long lasting and quickly changed working out comparable in cost to solvent cleaners. |
